Mara Perugini (Owner/Artistic Director-Mukwonago) after graduating from Accent on Dance in 1996, Mara continued her training at Oklahoma City University. She studied all forms of dance and performed with their American Spirit Dance Company and the OCU liturgical dancers. In 2001, Mara received her bachelor of arts in dance from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Upon her graduation while still residing in South Carolina she was employed by Ballet Spartanburg where she taught and danced professionally in such performances as Hansel and Gretel, Gisele, and the Nutcracker. She taught ballet, tap and jazz for Accent on Dance – Waukesha for 10 years. She desired to bring her experiences to her home town of Mukwonago and in 2010, Accent on Dance – Mukwonago became a reality! She prides herself in developing a Company program that has given back to the Mukwonago Fine Arts Booster Club with their Christmas Show each year. She has trained dancers whom have won accolades at the National and Regional level. She has seen some of her former students go on to college dance programs and further their dance education. Mara continues to share her love of dance with students at Accent on Dance. Miss Mara has been teaching for 26 years. Recently she was proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Accent on Dance – Mukwonago.
Kellie Plath (Owner-Waukesha/Mukwonago, Artistic Director-Waukesha) joined the faculty of AOD in 1983. Some of her preschool students now own and operate their own studios! In 1993 she created the company program and has been the director and primary teacher ever since. Kellie began her training with Mary Cummings, (her mother and founder of AOD), at a very early age thru her teenage years. She continued her studies in California and New York. Kellie taught and danced professionally in California before realizing her passion was back in the Midwest with AOD. Invited to teach on the national faculty of DANCE OLYMPUS, Kellie conducts master convention workshop classes throughout the United States for the organization. She continues to win national awards in competition and choreography. Accomplished students of hers have received numerous scholarships, danced in prestigious college dance programs around the nation, and gone on to careers in dance/related fields. Kellie has trained the 1996, 1997, 2003, 2004, 2009 “National Dancer of the Year” title holders. She is equally proud of the efforts and growth of the thousands of other dancers she has had the opportunity to work with over the years. Kellie’s “true” rewards come in the process of her everyday work with her dancers.
Christopher Plath (Owner-Waukesha/Mukwonago, Financial Accounts Manager-Waukesha/Mukwonago) received his bachelor degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Chris spent 12 years in sales before starting his own company in 1999. Experienced in finance, sales and business relations, he comes to AOD with the knowledge he continues to acquire in successfully operating a large Chicago area printing company. On his artistic side, Chris is an avid musician. An entrepreneur at heart and drawn to the arts, he looks forward to contributing his efforts at AOD.
